Obituary for
Dorothy M. Zook
Dorothy Mae Zook, 84, died Thursday, April 12, 2012, at her home in Durango, Colo. Cremation will occur and private family services are planned for a later date.
Mrs. Zook was born October 08, 1927, in Grand Island, Neb., the daughter of Dean and Anna Brazelton. She grew up in Grand Island and graduated high school in 1945. She was married to Earl L. Zook on October 9, 1949, in Grand Island. The young family moved to Durango from Russell, Kansas, in 1957.
Mrs. Zook worked in Durango for thirty years as a secretary for Durango School District and various medical offices. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, and reading. Dorothy especially enjoyed traveling with the gals of the family on their annual 'girls' week away. Some of the highlight locations included Cape Cod, Sonoma, Calif., Monterey Peninsula, Calif., Nashville, Tenn., and Newport, Ore. These trips provided her with many wonderful and long lasting memories. In honor of Dorothy, the 'girls' week away will continue. Dorothy will be remembered, as a wonderful wife, mother, and grandparent.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 63 years, Earl L. Zook of Durango, daughter Lynda and Jess Campbell of Paonia, Colo., son Steven and Terry Zook of Fallbrook, Calif., son David and Kim Zook of Durango, sister Betty Olson of Eau Clair, Wis., three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Erma Vanerio.
