Yvette Annette Potthoff, of Bayfield, Colorado, found peace with our heavenly Father on February 17, 2025, at age 76 after a courageous multiple-year battle with Alzheimer’s and cancer. She was born on January 5, 1949, in Colorado Springs to Lucille and Bernard LaNoue and was the second of seven children in the LaNoue family.
In 1970, Yvette began the most fulfilling chapter of her life by marrying Joseph Potthoff, the love of her life…her rock. Their relationship, which began in Westcliffe, Colorado, in the 1960s, grew into a beautiful journey built on mutual respect, shared adventures, and unwavering love. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Shanda (Potthoff) Akin and Barrett Potthoff, who in turn blessed them with cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Mamo.” Yvette’s family was her greatest pride, and she treasured every moment with them, creating lasting memories and traditions that will continue for generations.
Throughout her life, Yvette explored many creative interests from Christmas décor to handmade doilies. In the warmer months, she loved tending to her garden and canning her homemade goods. She also had a particular fondness for rocks and yucca plants and could routinely be found rummaging the hillside (and many other places) for these treasures she adorned the yard of their lovely home with.
One of Yvette’s most special talents was sewing, particularly making jean blankets. During the colder months, she would cut thousands of squares from denim and corduroy pants to create her signature blankets, which have become precious keepsakes for many family members and friends. If she wasn’t sewing blankets, she was crocheting them.
A celebration of life will be held in Westcliffe, Colorado this spring (details to be announced).
