Jeanne Carol Wirsching passed away Monday, September 28, 2015, at home, surrounded by family. She was 75 years old.
Jeanne was born January 13, 1940, to Joseph A. LaBarge and Bonita J. (Tillison) LaBarge in St. Louis, Missouri.
She was raised in Tulsa, OK, and attended Marquette Elementary and High School, graduating in 1957. Jeanne graduated from St. John's Hospital School of Nursing in Tulsa in 1960. Two days after graduation she married Paul Hugh Wirsching. Jeanne and Paul lived 10 years in Los Angeles, CA, and all of her 4 children were born in that home. The family lived in Albuquerque, NM for 2 years and then in Tucson, AZ from 1970 to present. Paul and Jeanne spent time in both Tucson and Durango since 1999.
Jeanne was a Registered Nurse and worked in the field of Orthopedics. She was instrumental in the development of the Arizona Bone and Tissue Bank for organ donors.
Jeanne enjoyed singing with the Sweet Adelines in Tucson and enjoyed a life long love of music. She was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church and assisted in various charities such as the Manna Soup Kitchen. Jeanne was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous.
She is survived by her husband, Paul, four children: Susan Marie Dempski (Donald), Patricia Marie Gipson (Michael), Catherine Marie Roberts (Mark), and Paul Hugh Wirsching, Jr., numerous loving grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Joseph A. LaBarge and her parents.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 10:00 am, at St. Columba Catholic Church in Durango.
