Obituary for
Paul L. Windmueller
Paul L. Windmueller, 63, died Sunday, December 2, 2012, in Durango, Colo. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2012, at St. Columba Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2012, also at St. Columba Catholic Church and Father James Koenigsfeld will be officiating.
Paul was born February 23, 1949, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of Paul and Juanita Windmueller. He grew up in St. Louis, Mo., and attended his primary education there. He attended Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo. Paul married Margaret “Maggie” Janssen on December 5, 1970, in Kansas City, Mo. They met in college and were married before his graduation.
Paul and Maggie owned and operated the Buffalo Bar in Idaho Springs, Colo. He worked in the Hospitality Industry in Albuquerque, N.M., for 17 years for Premier Distributing (an Anheuser/Busch Distributer). Paul and Maggie moved to Durango in 1998, purchasing and operating the Logwood Bed and Breakfast. They opened Beau Jo’s Mountain Bistro which is now the Iron Horse Pizza restaurant, in 2004 in Durango.
Paul was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church. He loved working and his family. He enjoyed daily walks with his wife and his buddy, Scoobie (the family dog). A follower and fan of the Denver Broncos football and St. Louis Cardinals baseball, he was an avid sports enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife, Maggie Windmueller, of Durango, Colo.; children: Ron Windmueller (fiancé: Rhyannon Williams), of Erie, Colo.; and Amy Windmueller (fiancé: Mark Frank) of San Francisco, Calif.; sister, Nancy Kircher (spouse: Bill), of Richmond, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
He was preceded by a brother, Fr. Ron Windmueller, S.J.
