Our beloved mother passed on during the evening of the 9th of January 2015 in Bayfield, Colorado after a courageous battle with cancer. Marie was born on the 3rd of July 1929 in Bisbee, Arizona to Quentin Walter and Marie Theresa Kane (Kaminski) of Bisbee. Quentin was a Pennsylvania native and an automobile mechanic and salesman. His wife was a well known postal clerk at the post office in the downtown district. Marie graduated from Bisbee High School in 1947. She went on to attend the University of Arizona at Tempe where she met her future husband, Jack Winchester, on a blind date. They were married shortly thereafter on May 31, 1948 in Bisbee at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church. The couple remained in that community until 1959, moving to Sacramento, California where Jack obtained employment at McClellan Air Force Base as a civilian specialist. There were six children born to this couple: William, Mary, Catherine, Caroline, Patricia, and John. Caroline has preceded her in death on January 14, 2008 in Sacramento, California. Marie gained employment working in the cafeteria of one of the local high schools in Sacrament after her children were of age. After their retirement, Jack and Marie moved to Bayfield, Colorado and set up a home near their daughter Catherine. Jack loved the ranching atmosphere and horses while Marie loved to travel and having her dogs, cats and family near her. Jack passed away on the 1st of September 2014 in their 66nd year of marriage. Marie has now joined her husband as it should be.
Our family would like to thank Wilma Zwygart, Hope Scheppelman and Steve Scheppelman for their support and care of Marie and Jack. Private services will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to your local humane society.
