Obituary for
Stanley Michael "Stan" Williams
Stanley (Stan) Michael Williams of Bayfield, Colo. (born November 17, 1949, in Monroe, La.) died on June 22, 2013, surrounded by loving family. Stan was a member of Bayfield First Baptist Church. He was the former owner of Denton Signs in Durango, a lifetime member of Sertoma in Colorado Springs, and a volunteer with Cadence Therapeutic Riding Program in Durango. As a soldier in the US Army during the Vietnam conflict, Stan ultimately became a casualty of that service to his country. Stan and his family are deeply grateful for all the loving support of this wonderful community. During his final days he was greatly comforted by this simple prayer, “God is always good and I am always loved.” He is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Nolan Williams. Stan is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Robin Williams, father, John L. Williams of Monroe, La., sisters: Beryl W. Foster (Mo) of Byers, Colo., Cheryl W. Newton (Don) of Monroe, La., and brother, John Bearden (Peggy) of Valrico, Fla. Memorial Services will be held at First Baptist Church in Bayfield, Colo., at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2013. Pastor Randy Ash will officiate. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made in Stan’s name to First National Bank of Durango to help defer medical expenses or a donation to a charity of your choice in his honor.
