William John "Bill" MacGuffie, 71, of Ignacio, Colorado, passed away peacefully at home on March 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Wallace, Idaho, on October 27, 1953, to Joe and Lena MacGuffie, Bill spent his childhood moving across the country with his parents and siblings before ultimately settling in Durango, Colorado. Throughout his life, Bill embraced every moment with zest and an adventurous spirit, always living life to the fullest. Whether boating on the lake, riding his motorcycle on a sunny day, skiing the mountains chasing fresh powder, or playing a round of golf, Bill found his joy in the outdoors and enjoyed sharing those experiences with his loved ones.
Above all, Bill cherished his family. They knew he would always be there for them, ready to offer love, support, and an infectious smile. Bill had a remarkable work ethic, whether he was on the job or at home. He could always be counted on for advice and to complete any task with dedication, precision, and a touch of humor. His hearty laugh and his bright, ever-present smile will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Diane; his children, Jamie (Kenneth) MacGuffie Kooser, Joy (Justin) MacGuffie Harris, and Derek (Savannah) MacGuffie; his grandchildren, Samantha and Emily Kooser, Madilyn Harris, and Jackson MacGuffie; siblings Charlotte Salisbury and Jerry (Pam) MacGuffie; as well as many extended family members and close friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Ty MacGuffie; his daughter, Dylan MacGuffie; and his parents, Joe and Lena MacGuffie.
