William Kim Childers

February 17, 1953 — February 7, 2025

Durango, Colorado

William “Kim” Childers, 71, of Durango, Colorado went home to be with the Lord on February 7, 2025. Beloved husband of Christi for more than 40 years, he is remembered as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, a gentle giant at 6’4” who loved hunting and fishing, whether he was in Arkansas, Texas or Colorado. Kim was born on February 17, 1953, in Aurora, Colorado to Lester and Jean Childers. Kim was an accomplished scientist, graduating with his Bachelor’s (University of Colorado) and Master’s (University of Arkansas) degrees which led to a long and successful career in the pharmaceutical industry. Kim retired in 2013 as the General Manager of Singapore Manufacturing at Alcon, Inc. He was admired by his colleagues and staff throughout his career as a caring and exemplary leader. Kim loved adventures as evidenced by his last post in Singapore. He loved exploring the world and still enjoyed the simple pleasures of climbing the mountains in his ATV, sitting in a deer stand, or floating down the San Juan with friends. His family would agree that his favorite color was camouflage!

Kim passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and two children at Mercy Hospice House in Durango, Colorado. He is survived by his wife Christi, his daughter Amy (Childers) Mueller (and husband Bryce), grandchildren Milly and Townes Mueller, and his son Matt Childers (and wife Morgan), grandchildren Collins and Jones Childers, stepbrother Paul Bankston (and wife Pam), and son Christopher.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, stepmother, and two nephews. The memorial service will be held in Texas at First Methodist Church Mansfield at 11AM on Saturday, March 29, 2025. Memorial donations may be made to Mercy Hospice House (designate Hospice of Mercy) or First Methodist Church Mansfield in Memory of Kim Childers, for the HomeBuilders.
