Obituary for
Melvin Ray Wells
Longtime Bayfield resident Melvin Ray Wells died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, July 27, 2013. He was 73. Ray was born April 16, 1940, in Durango, Colo., to D.D. and Noble Wells. He married Kheta Ross-Miller November 26, 1999, at the LDS Temple in Monticello, Utah, and had six wonderful kids. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His family said, "He had a love of the gospel of Jesus Christ, his family, and of storytelling. No one was a stranger to him. He was a man of integrity and honor and will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be greatly missed!!" He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister. He is survived by his wife of almost 14 years, Kheta Wells of Bayfield, and his children: Maggie Wells of Lyons, Colo., Karena Miller and Chayton Wells of Bayfield, Laramy and Donna Miller of Hamilton, Mont., Echo and Wes Blevins of Eagar, Ariz., Jacy Miller of Tempe, Ariz.; his sisters Jeanne Wells of Los Angeles, and Roseanne and Mike Cusick of Bayfield, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 2, 2013, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Bayfield. Burial will follow at Pine River Cemetery in Bayfield.
