Vicie was born May 29, 1956, in Altoona, Pa., the daughter of Delbert and Pearl Wasser. She grew up in several small towns in western Pennsylvania due to her father’s career as a Methodist minister. Vicie graduated from Keystone High School in 1974. She achieved her undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University in Latin American Studies and obtained a Master’s in Business Administration from Gannon University in Erie, Pa. She was a waitress while in college and also has worked as an officer at PNC bank – a large regional bank.

Vicie and Joe began their relationship in 1977, and were married in 1988 at Yankee Boy Basin outside of Ouray, Colo. They lived in Pennsylvania until 1990 when they moved to Keystone, Colo., and both worked in and around the Keystone Ski Resort. They moved to Durango in 1996. Vicie retired in 1998 due to health issues.

She enjoyed sewing crafts including knitting, needlepoint and cross-stitch. Vicie and Joseph loved the Colorado mountains and followed their dream to live in Durango. Her favorite mountain sports were camping, hiking, cross country skiing and backpacking. She also loved to read and was a talented baker.

Vicie and Joe traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, and Alaska. They camped, hiked, and/or backpacked in all of the national parks in the western U.S. Their favorite spots included the Florida Keys, Bryce National Park, Denali National Park, Glacier National Park, and Taylor Park near Gunnison.

She is survived by her husband, Joe Motsch, of Durango; parents Delbert and Pearl Wasser of Everett, Pa.; siblings Rex (Kell) Wasser of New Castle, Pa., Mark (Suzi) Wasser, Randy (Allison) Wasser and Brian (Joyce) Wasser of Pittsburgh, Pa., Todd Wasser of Beech Creek, Pa. and Melinda (Fred) Mattern of Roanoke, Va., and numerous nieces and nephews.
