Obituary for Tammy R. Ward

Tammy R. Ward, 36, died Monday, February 6, 2012, at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Durango. Cremation will occur at Hood Mortuary Crematory in Durango. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Ward was born June 22, 1975 in Victoria, Texas, the daughter of Raymond and Merry (Gresham) Miller. Tammy grew up in Victoria, and attended schools there, graduating from high school in Bloomington, Texas. She joined the Army shortly afterward and was stationed in Georgia. When she was discharged in the early 1990's, she was living in Houston, and it is there that she met her future husband, Brian Ward. They were married for 17 years and had three children. The Ward family lived all over Texas and then moved to the Colorado in 2011. Tammy enjoyed doing crafts, baking, cooking, animals, hiking and the splendor of the Colorado mountains. She was a wonderful caregiver to her husband and enjoyed giving surprises to her children. "She never bought anything for herself. She selflessly gave all that she had to everyone around her," fondly recalls her family.

She is survived by Brian Ward (spouse) of Durango, Colo., Shelby Miller (daughter) of Durango, Donald Ward (son) of Durango, Briana Ward (daughter) of Durango, Aimee Thomas (sister) of Ocala, Fla., Barry Marks (step brother) of Lovington, N.M., Ray & Rhonda Miller (parents) of Hobbs, N.M., Gerald Ward (father in law) of Industry, Texas, Barbara Henderson (aunt) of Edna, Texas, Betty Thomas (aunt) of Houston, Texas, Barbara Volkmer (aunt) of Victoria, Texas, Ross & Clydene Gunn (step grandparents) of Lovington, N.M., and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
