Herbert Walthall

Herbert “Wayne” Walthall passed away on December 4, 2020 at Mercy Hospice House. Wayne was born to Herbert Thomas and Martha Bird Walthall on November 18, 1925 in Coleman, Texas. He was raised in San Angelo, TX, after moving there in 1930. Wayne graduated high school in 1943 and joined the Navy. He was stationed in Hawaii for 2 years as a radioman. After the service, he moved to Morton, TX in 1948 where he worked as a Texas Highway Patrolman. It was there he met his wife and they were married in 1950. Together they moved to Levelland, TX and in 1959, Wayne moved his family to Hobbs, NM, where he had a long career with Southwestern Public Service, now known as Xcel Energy. In 1989, the couple moved to Durango full time and retired.

Wayne is preceded in death by: his parents, sister Beatrice Powell and granddaughter, Kendra Walthall. He is survived by: his wife of 70 years, Beverly; sons: Gary of Durango and Michael (Nancy) Walthall of Albuquerque, NM and his granddaughter, Jamie of St Thomas, USVI. A small family service will be held at a later date.
