Obituary for
Kenneth R. Wagner
Kenneth Russell Wagner died Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at his home in Ignacio, Colo. He was 61.
Kenneth was born November 9, 1950, in Durango, Colo., the son of Roy and Lila Wagner. He was born in Community Hospital in Durango and graduated from Ignacio High School in 1969. He studied carpentry at San Juan VoTech, then moved to Idaho to work for eight months. He moved back to Durango and worked for the county as a gravel crusher operator for nine years and then snowplowed for the state for seven years. He worked at Tamarron for ten years as a bus driver. He was a ditch rider for Oxford Lateral Ditch for eight years. Throughout his life, he farmed the family property.
He helped build Pine River Valley Baptist Church and was a member for many years. He loved hunting, leatherworking and beadworking, fishing, animals and spending time with his great-nieces and -nephews. He used his carpentry skills to make bird houses, toy chests and cabinets.
He is survived by his sister Verda (Terry) Wright of Pagosa Springs, Colo., brothers Milton (Judy) Wagner of Wells, Texas, and Herald (Thad) Wagner of Ignacio, Colo., and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, District II - Southwest Colorado, 1800 E. 3rd Ave Suite 101, Durango, CO 81301.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2012, at Oxford Grange. Interment of ashes will occur at Oxford Cemetery. Cremation will occur at Hood Mortuary Crematory in Durango.
