Paul C. Voit
Paul Christian Voit, 46, died Tuesday, November 20, 2012, in Durango, Colo. A Memorial Service will be Sunday, December 2, 2012, at 3:00 P.M. at Hood Mortuary and Pastor Craig Paschal of the First United Methodist Church in Mancos, Colo., will be officiating.
Paul was born April 19, 1966, in Milwaukee, Wis., the son of Allen and Dorothy Voit. He grew up and attended school in Menomonee Falls, Wis. He lived in the greater Milwaukee area until he moved to Colorado approximately eight years ago.
Paul worked in the family business, a bar and reception hall in Menomonee Falls named the Orchard Inn. He worked at Jack’s Tobacco (cigar shop) in Wisconsin. Locally, Paul worked for the Durango Smoke Shop, Home Depot, and most recently, at Walgreens, where he excelled in his customer relations and service friendships.
He very much enjoyed his Colorado home and the outdoors, as well as a passion for road cycling and touring, having ridden in many distance fund raisers and local tours. Paul was a cigar aficionado. He was an avid Green Bay Packer and NASCAR fan - his favorite racer is Jeff Gordon - as well as a follower of hockey and soccer.
Paul was dedicated to his work, no matter where that might be. He loved his customer relations and fellow employees. He belonged to the BPO Elks in his hometown in Wisconsin.
He is survived by his daughter, Jessalyn Bay-Voit, of Mancos, Colo.; his mother Dorothy Voit, of West Bend, Wis.; siblings: Ellen Amado (spouse: Manoel, children: Mia, Ali, and Kai) of Bristow, Va., David Voit (daughter: Tori) of West Bend, Wis., Andy Voit (spouse: Linda, children: Nichole, Amy, & Katie) of Boscobel, Wis., and Betsy Spizar (children: Megan & Noah) of Grafton, Wis.; former spouse, Chyrise Bay, of Mancos, Colo.; his partner, Cheri Jones of Hermosa, Colo., (her two sons, Mathew Jones and Micheal Thompson); and half-siblings: Mike Voit, Tom Voit, and Patty Voit, all of Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his father, Allen Voit.
