Obituary for
Jerry Leon Ulibarri
Jerry Leon Ulibarri, 62, died Thursday, October 27, 2011 at San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington, New Mexico. A Funeral Service will be Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Pine River Valley Baptist Church. Pastor David McCaw of Pine River Valley Baptist Church will be officiating. Burial will occur at Pine River Cemetery in Bayfield.
Jerry attended schools in Durango and Ignacio. He entered into the Navy and was stationed in San Diego, CA and finished his schooling there as well. While in the military, he was in the Vietnam War and also went to Japan. He also served in the National Guard. He was a past member of the Knights of Columbus and when he returned stateside, he moved to New Mexico and worked for the City of Farmington. He then moved to Ignacio and was then working for the American Bed and Frame Company, Sky Ute Casino and Kangaroo Express. For the last 3 years, he was driving for Four Corners Health Care Center in Durango. He enjoyed fishing, some hunting, watching pro Rodeo, dancing, BBQ-ing, watching Fraiser and being at the casino. He treasured his time with his wife, Elba. They traveled extensively and they both enjoyed listening to Spanish music while eating chips and salsa. He will be fondly remembered for picking on people and had a great sense of humor.
He is survived by Elba Garcia (wife) of Allison, CO, Nora (Kenney Lucero) Garcia (daughter and son in law) of Arboles, CO, Anna (David) Lucero (daughter and son in law) of Seminole, TX, Tinnie (Juan Valencia) Fulks (daughter and son in law) of Ignacio, CO, Bobbie Jo Martin (daughter) of Farmington, NM, Jerry Ulibarri, Jr. (son) of Farmington, NM, Josie (Russell) Tackett (daughter and son in law) of Allison, CO, Joe (Mandi) Garcia (son and daughter in lw) of San Angelo, TX, Ernie (Dwane Reed) Garcia (son and son in law) of Ignacio, CO, 13 grandchildren, 3 great granchildren, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, newphews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother Salamé Herrera, his sister Susie Aguilar, his brother Raymond Aguilar and his sister Jeanette Aguilar.
