Tracey Anne Tyner of Durango passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends at home on August 30, 2015 after an 8 month battle with Acute Myelomonocytic Leukemia. She was 50.
Tracey was born August 16, 1965 in Rifle, Colorado, to Ron and Marty (Knickerbocker) Tyner. She grew up in Boulder, Parker and Durango. Tracey graduated from Durango High School in 1983 where she was a cheerleader and the DeMolay Sweetheart.
She married Alex Archuleta in 1985. The couple had a daughter Jessica, born in Durango in 1985. They then moved to Seattle, WA before divorcing in 1989. While in Seattle, Tracey had a son, Brandon Tyner, in 1991. She also studied computer science at Shoreline Community College before returning to Durango in 1997.
Through the years Tracey worked at Lori's Family Restaurant, First National Bank, and Vectra Bank. She was a Personal Assistant at Re/Max Four Corners Real Estate, Owned durangorealestate.com, an internet real estate advertising company, and was Front Office Manager for Southwest Cardiology Clinic.
Tracey volunteered at Cadence Center for Therapeutic Riding, and the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast. She loved spending time with her family and friends (especially road trips), gathering cattle on Bo the horse,
running a chain saw, making clay bears, and cooking Hatch green chilies and Kraut Kuga for her kids and family. She enjoyed going to the Notch near Kennebec Pass, and camping and picnicking at the Odd Fellows Camp Ground in La Plata Canyon.
Tracey is survived by: Her grandmother, Calla Mae (Baird) Tyner; her father and stepmother, Katie (Dawson) Tyner; her sister Tammy Tyner of Durango; stepsister Emma Cole of Durango, stepbrother Dawson Cole of Denton, TX: her daughter Jessica (Josh) Archuleta Foster of Salt Lake City, UT; son Brandon Tyner of Durango; grandchildren: Juna and Josephine "Joey" Foster of Salt Lake City, UT and her niece Kaylee Tyner of Durango.
She is preceded in death by her mother, her grandfather Robert "Bob" Tyner, her grandparents Lee and Leona (Richards) Knickerbocker.
All of Tracey's friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life to be held Sunday, September 6, 2015 from 4:00 – 6:00 at the Chris Park Campgrounds, 900 Chris Park Road (USFS Road 791) south of Haviland Lake. The event will be a pot luck picnic. For information and directions call 970-749-2526.
