Obituary for Thomas Michael "Mike" Taylor

Thomas Michael “Mike” Taylor, 74, died Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Durango, Colorado. Cremation will occur at Hood Mortuary Crematory in Durango. Memorial services will be held 10:00 am on Friday, December 13, 2013 at Hood Mortuary Chapel. Mr. Taylor was born December 3, 1939 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri the son of Thomas and Juanita Taylor. Known as Mike, he grew up and attended schools in Missouri. Mike also attended Rolla University in Missouri and obtained his Bachelor's degree in Engineering. He worked various jobs in various places. He then began working for the city of Ventura, California and was a civil engineer for Public Works for 30 + years. He had made many trips to see his parents in Missouri from California and he usually stopped in Durango and that was how he became to know the area. He had a dream of wanting to retire in Durango and it was fulfilled. Mike enjoyed reading Louie L'Amor novels, watching Westerns, going to the Bar-D Chuckwagon and had appreciation for the Native American culture. He also liked to golf, watch golf on TV and was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. He also enjoyed watching the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Avalanche. He is survived by Gloria Taylor (spouse) of Durango, CO, Tracy Pasquotto (daughter) of Phoenix, AZ, Michele Phillips (daughter) of Glendale, AZ, Lance Wayman (future son-in-law), Grandchildren: Forrest Tonsing and Taylor Meyer, Cody and Brody Pasquotto, Great Grandchildren: Haylee Pasquotto and Brooklynn Pasquotto and good friends: Maribel, Jamie, Lessly, David and Lupita. He was preceded in death by his parents and other extended family members.
