Obituary for
Jeffrey H. Sweet
Jeffrey Howard Sweet passed on to The Other Side on Monday, June 4, 2012. He fought a brave battle for eight years against bone marrow cancer, and now he is finally out of pain and flying free.
Jeffrey was born March 17th, 1954, to Richard H. Sweet and Barbara Harris, in Attleboro, Massachusetts. After graduating from Proctor Academy HS in Andover, New Hampshire, he attended New England College in Henniker, New Hampshire, where he earned a BS in Geology in 1976. He studied piano from a very young age, mastering the intricacies of jazz music.
A gifted jazz pianist, Jeff performed with his band New Moon in the late 70s and 80s. He married Candace Chrisinger (1951-2011) in Boulder, Colorado, in 1987 and they had a daughter, Kelly Melissa Sweet, in 1988 in Wareham, Massachusetts. In 1995 he relocated to his beloved Durango, Colorado.
Jeff was an incredible skier, racing and touring the professional ski circuit. He lived for those special powder days with the snow in his hair. He worked as a house painter and professional musician. Tennis was another passion and he played often with friends in Durango. He was a proud and devoted father of Kelly, supporting her, encouraging her, and protecting her, especially in her own career in music.
Jeff is survived by his sisters, Catherine Heide of Falmouth, Massachusetts, and Michelle Daly of Breckenridge, Colorado, and survived by his daughter, Kelly Sweet of North Hollywood, California.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Swing Restaurant at Dalton Ranch Golf Club on Sunday, June 10th, 2012 from 2-4PM.
