Rene Ann Sweeney
Rene Ann Sweeney, 69, died Saturday, April 19, 2014, in Durango, Colorado.
Rene was born November 14, 1944 in Camden, Tennessee, the daughter of Guy and Virginia Creasman Maiden. She had five brothers and sisters and grew up in Camden, Tennessee. She graduated from Camden High School. She moved to Colorado Springs in 1961. There she was employed for 18 years as a legal secretary. She married in 1965 and had two children. The marriage ended in a divorce. She moved to Durango in 1987 and married Ken Sweeney, the love of her life. She worked as a legal secretary for 26 years in Durango with Dawes & Crane and Crane & Tejada, P.C.
She is survived by her husband Ken Sweeney of Durango, son Bill Brockley of Durango, daughter Becky Johnson of Colorado Springs, three step-sons, Jeff Sweeney of Wellington, CO, Greg Sweeney of Bayfield, CO, and Brad Sweeney of San Antonio, TX; a brother Jerre Maiden and a sister Angie Williams, both of Camden, TN, and numerous grandchildren.
Her interests were antiques and garage sales. Her hobbies were bowling, boating, reading and she was an avid fisherman, known for catching Big Bertha and General Brown.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Jesse Maiden, Guy Maiden, Jr. and Gail Morehouse.
A Memorial Service is yet to be set and will be announced later.
