It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Steve Michael Usaitis, comforted by his wife and love of his life on November 2, 2024. Born on July 22, 1949, Steve was a cherished member of the community and beloved friend to many.
Steve is preceded in life by his dear wife Susan, his children, Katie and Daniel, and his grandchildren Nicholas, Rayah, Michael, Adwyn, and Jolie. Throughout his life, Steve dedicated himself to his family.
He was a larger-than-life presence whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of everyone he encountered. Known for his infectious laughter, generous spirit and geniune personality, Steve had a remarkable ability to make those around him feel valued and loved.
Steve retired from a successful career as an Electrician in Las Vegas, NV and chose Durango, CO to be his forever home. Steve found happiness as a pilot, flying his airplane for recreation around the Four Corners area. His home was the venue of many celebrations and memories for family and friends.
His legacy of compassion and commitment will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 11, 2024 at Hood Mortuary beginning at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to come together to share stories and honor the incredible person he was.
He will be deeply missed by never forgotten.
