John Norman Snowberger passed away at home in Durango on Tuesday, April 27, 2021. John was born on May 15, 1932 to Agnes & Raymond Snowberger. He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings (Eileen, Grace, Raymond, Richard, and Larry). After serving in the US Army during the Korean War, John married his grade school sweetheart, Helen Young, on September 7, 1957. John retired from Eastern Airlines in 1987 after 27 years as a Financial Analyst in Miami, Florida. Helen, his wife of almost 55 years, passed away on March 6, 2012 prior to John’s move to Durango in June 2012 along with his son Daniel, Daniel’s wife Olga, and their five children. John and Helen had four children: David Snowberger (Hollywood, FL), Diane Goodman (Evans, GA), Donna Hancock (Martinez, GA) and Daniel Snowberger (Durango, CO). He had nine grandchildren, Steven Hancock, Patricia Phelps, Shannon Hancock, Kathryn Snowberger, Amanda Snowberger, Ryan Goodman, Jennifer Snowberger, Jessica Snowberger, and Joshua Snowberger. He also was blessed with six great grandchildren, Kyla Phelps, Aricella Becerra, Austin Hancock, Avery Hancock, Kiersten Phelps, and Nicolas Phelps. John will be celebrated at a private Catholic mass at St. Columba Catholic Parish in Durango, Colorado and will be buried at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado alongside his wife later this spring. The family requests donations be made in lieu of flowers to Hospice of Mercy in Durango located at 175 Mercado Street, Suite 131, Durango, CO 81301.
