Obituary for
Laurie Elaine Simons (Meisner)
Allison resident Laurie Elaine Simons passed away on August 18, 2013, surrounded by love after a short battle with gall bladder cancer at the age of 52. She was born August 20, 1960, to Gary and Nancy Meisner in Boulder, Colo., the youngest of four children. Laurie’s family moved to Ignacio when Laurie was 12. She attended and graduated from Ignacio High School, where she met the love of her life. On April 20, 1978, she married Robert Simons Jr. Laurie was known for her wonderful, down home cooking and beautiful smile. She was often quoted saying “It is what it is”, and survived every battle including her last by this motto. Her passions of life included Elvis Presley, NASCAR, and the Denver Broncos. One of her last promises to all Bronco fans was that if she had anything to do with it, the Broncos will make it to and win the Super Bowl. Laurie’s favorite past time was boating on Lake Navajo with family and friends. She had a tendency to worry about everyone but herself and found her “true happiness was spending time with her grandchildren: Bailey, Buck, and Gracie’Adele.” She was preceded in death by both of her parents. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Robert Simons, her two children, Bobby Simons and wife, Angela, of Arboles, Stacy Martinez, and husband, Benny, of Bayfield, brothers Art and Gary Meisner of Durango, and sister Kim Williamson of Wyoming, and three grandchildren. The service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, August 23, 2013, at the Sky Ute Casino. A celebration of life will take place at the Spring Creek Hall following the service. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Research 5575 Dtc. Parkway Suite 145, Greenwood Village, CO 80111. Please detail contribution with - in loving memory of Laurie Simons.
