Obituary for
Mary A. Simmons
Mary A. Simmons, 94, died Thursday, June 14, 2012 at home in Mancos, Colorado. A Funeral Service will be Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at Hood Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery in Durango.
Mrs. Simmons was born October 25, 1917 in Palmer Lake, Colorado the daughter of August and Emma Albrecht. She grew up in Durango, attended and graduated from Durango Schools and lived much of her life the her Hermosa Valley.
She loved to sew and quilt and was a talented baker of breads and pies. Mary was very family oriented in her love and service.
She has lived in Mancos Colorado for the last 18 years where she was an active member of the Baptist Church.
“She loved the Lord with all her heart,” remembers her daughters, Kira and Karen.
Mary is survived by her children: Karen Patcheck of Mancos, Colorado, Mary Kay St. John of Boerne, Texas, Wade Michael Simmons of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Kira Ratliff of Glendale, Arizona, and Cynthia Ballard of Lakewood, Colorado; four (4) grandchildren, multiple great-granchildren, her siblings: Ernest Albrecht of Roswell, New Mexico, Elizabeth Hillman of Aurora, Colorado, and Merle Albrecht of Wheatridge, Colorado, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kristen Simmons and her husband Wade.
