Susan Siegele

May 18, 1949 — April 9, 2018

In the early hours of Monday, April 9, Susie Siegele went peacefully to the Lord at her home after several months of struggling with her second round of cancer. A small group of friends gathered to honor her on the evening preceding her death.
She was born to Herbert and Katherine Siegele, May 18th, 1949 in Durango, CO. She graduated from Durango High School in 1967 and Colorado University in 1971. Susie lived in Southern California for a few years before returning to Durango. She was in the real estate marketing for some time before developing a residential home care business, Home Huggers for last 20 years.
Her calling was in reaching out to everyone with love and laughter. She collected friends of all ages and loved children and her pets. Radiance, sparkling warmth, and healing were her gifts. She had a vivid memory and sense of humor so that laughter pervaded any group where Susie was in attendance. She taught Sunday school, organized happy group activities, and helped numerous people of all ages as a certified Healing Therapy Practitioner; the “TLC program” at Mercy Hospital, Healing Oils of the Bible and Healing Ministry she began. She was part of PEO organization for many years. Forgiveness was the theme of her Bible study in her last weeks of life.
Susie was a faithful servant of her Lord, living her days for others. She studied clowning and became an entertaining, successful clown, especially when sharing a Christian message. She was a devoted aunt and advocate for her nephew Richard and his acquaintances. She lived in the family home with her mother, Katherine, and cared for her through her Alzheimer’s years. She was artistic and faithfully collected and displayed art projects presented to her, was part of a monthly bunco group, as well as memorabilia of her family including her brother Charlie, who died unexpectedly in December, 2017. Susie is preceded in death by both parents and by her brother Charlie. She is survived by her nephew, Richard Siegele, sister in-laws, Deborah Uroda and Rosemary Siegele and many friends.
