Ruby Viola Shuler (Woods)
Ruby Viola Shuler died February 20, 2016. Ruby was born December 3, 1914, in Arkansas City, Kansas, to William Woods and Mary Morris Woods. When she was three years old her family moved to Oklahoma. She attended elementary school in Uncas and graduated from high school in Kaw City, Oklahoma in 1933. She moved back to Arkansas City, Kansas, to find work and be near many relatives.
In 1937 she met Paul Shuler of Lawrence, Kansas, and they were married August 25, 1938. After 50 ½ years of blissful marriage Paul died March 2, 1989.
Ruby enjoyed traveling (going to reunions), hiking, camping out and picnicking. Her interests were in needlework, church work and visiting with relatives and friends. She was a lifetime member of the Rebecca Lodge and was also a member of the Navajo Trails Gem and Mineral Club.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, one great-grandson, and two brothers.
She has three grandsons, one granddaughter, ten great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She says: “Thank God for giving me so many wonderful friends to add to my golden chain of friendship.”
