Jacob David Shepherd ( February 23, 1993 – August 24, 2015)
Jacob David Shepherd was born February 23, 1993 in Durango, Colorado. He went to public schools in Durango and met his future wife Adriana Shepherd in middle school. Jake graduated from Durango High school. During his whole life and high school career, he was passionate about playing baseball as a pitcher. He also spent his free time fishing and enjoying time with his friends. After high school, he received a scholarship to play for the baseball team at Trinidad State in Colorado. He spent his freshman year of college excelling at his sport. By his sophomore year, he returned to Durango and began attending Fort Lewis College. It is here that he reconnected with Adriana and they soon began dating. Not long into their relationship, they were pregnant with their daughter Kennedy. The two were married, and soon followed the birth of their daughter. This life event greatly affected Jacob. His passion for school and family was accelerated and soon he was getting straight A’s and made the Dean’s list. He majored in Cellular Molecular Biology and minored in Public Health. Jacob wanted to be a dentist one day. He always said not only did he want to be the first member of his family to be in the medical field; he really had a passion for serving the underprivileged. He had just completed sending out dental school applications this last June and all of the schools were interested in more information from him. His future was bright, but not as bright as the love that lived inside of him. Jacob was a very brilliant and dedicated man to both his family and his future, but his kind soul and endless love for others is what made him one of a kind. He will be forever loved and forever missed.
