Russel A. “Rusty” Shablo, age 25, passed away on April 30, 2016. Rusty had a beautiful heart and spirit and his laugh and smile was contagious to those around him. Rusty often thought of others before himself as was the case before he left us. He was more concerned about how sad his loved ones would be instead of the struggle ahead of him. He fought a tough fight the last two years but never once did we hear him complain. He left us much too early and will be missed by family and friends until we see each other again.
Rusty worked for Badger in North Dakota before returning to Durango where he was employed by Bechtolt Engineering in surveying and loved his job.
Rusty loved snowboarding, fishing, hunting, camping and all Colorado outdoor life.
He is survived by parents Tony (Reta) Shablo of Bayfield, Colorado; Treva (Barry) Greenwood of Florida; brothers: Cameron Shablo and Joseph Alexander of Durango; and sister: Kristy (Justin) Gingerich of Durango; his loving grandparents: Al and Carol Shablo of Bayfield; grandparents: Denis and Toma Brown of Colorado Springs; and aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 7, 2016, at 11:30 a.m., at Pine Valley Church and burial will occur at Pine River Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to FBO Russel A. Shablo at First National Bank.
