Obituary for
Clayborn W. Scott
Longtime Ignacio resident Clayborn W. Scott died Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at his residence. He was 55.
Clayborn was born to Rose Howe of Ignacio on August 31, 1956. At the age of two he was adopted by Walter and Anna Scott. Clayborn grew up in Ignacio. He graduated from Ignacio High School in 1974. During his high school years he enjoyed playing basketball. In the summers he would play baseball with his friends, traveling in different tournaments.
His wife, Rose, said, "Clayborn was loved by everyone who came in contact with him. He was a very forgiving person and never held grudges. No matter what, he always had a smile on his face."
In November 2006, he received a traumatic brain injury in a motorcycle accident. He spent six months in Denver. Even though he suffered from TBI, he still had his sense of humor. Clayborn loved to watch football – the South Carolina Panthers were his favorite team. Clayborn enjoyed listening to all types of music, dancing, going to movies, and taking vacations. Clayborn loved when family and friends came to visit, because he knew they would barbecue and he would be having his favorite foods -- hamburgers, hot dogs, and Dr. Pepper.
On January 7, 2006, he married RoseAnn Silva of Durango. They had been married 6 1/2 years at the time of his death. Rose said they lived a very private but comfortable life.
Clayborn is survived by his wife, Rose Scott, of Durango, sons Mathew Scott of Idaho, and Clayborn, Jr., and Randy Scott of Ignacio. He is also survived by three stepchildren: Sherri (Ted), Richard, and Tamara, and 13 grandchildren.
A celebration of Clayborn's life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 31, 2012, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 254 East Fifth Ave., in Durango, Colo. A reception dinner will take place after the Mass at the Parish Hall.
