Obituary for
William Martin "Chilli" Scholten
William Martin “Chilli” Scholten, 49, died Sunday, October 19, 2014 at home in Durango, Colorado. Per his request, no services are planned at this time. Chilli’s passing was due to a short battle with cancer.
Chilli was born December 5, 1964 in Yale, Oklahoma, the son of Cecil and Alice Scholten. He grew up in Greenfield, OK, and it was from that town that he graduated High School.
Chilli moved to Durango 1992 and began practicing his trade as a Master Plumber. His craftsmanship and handy-work can be seen and appreciated in the many new homes he helped construct. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed hunting, fishing or enjoying his true passion of archaeology.
“He lived life fully and completely and his legacy will live on through his love of family,” Said his brother, Lonnie.
He is survived by his mother Alice Scholten of Durango, siblings: Lonnie Scholten (brother) of Durango, Mary Scholten (sister) of Bayfield, Colo., Lin Scholten (brother) of Matagorda, Tex., and Cecil Scholten (brother) of LaGrange, Tex.; two daughters in Oklahoma, and many nieces and nephews.
His father, Cecil, preceded him in death, as well as a brother, Raymond.
