Obituary for
Darren Ray Schmutz
Darren Ray Schmutz was born on January 5, 1979 and left this earth on February 17, 2014.
Darren was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Doug and LaRita Schmutz, as the fifth of thirteen children. He graduated in 1997 from La Cueva High School, where he was involved in the ROTC program.
Darren married Janna Dawn Egger in March 2002 and they were sealed for time and eternity in the Bern Switzerland LDS temple on March 27,2007. Darren’s favorite things included watching and quoting movies with family and friends, camping, and four wheeling. He loved to listen to all kinds of music and the sound of a diesel engine. Darren worked in the gas field for 10 years, and for Red Cedar Gathering for 6 of those years.
Darren had traveled to many places including Brazil, Egypt, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria and always looked forward to returning to Switzerland.
Mr. Schmutz is preceded in death by his grandparents on his mother’s side and grandfather on his father’s side.
He is survived by his wife, Janna Schmutz, Daughter: Misty, Parents: John and LaRita Schmutz, Sisters: Angela Kalke of Houston, Texas, Rebecca Jepsen of Pocatello, Idaho, Tiffany Ritchie of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Sarah Redd of Orem, Utah, Catherine Jentzsch of Caldwell,Idaho, Mary Mowrer of Gallup, New Mexico, Amy Schmutz of Rexburg, Idaho, Brothers: Steven Schmutz of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Matthew Schmutz of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Samuel Schmutz of Los Lunas, New Mexico, Jonathan Schmutz of Provo, Utah, Michael Schmutz, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and 41 nieces and nephews.
Service for Mr. Schmutz will be held Saturday, February 22, 2014 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Bayfield, CO at 11:00 a.m.Burial will follow at the Pine River Cemetery. Bishop Bruce Edmonds will officiate.
