George Sands

December 11, 1966 — November 24, 2020

George Howard Sands was born on December 11, 1966 to Howard O. and Sophia P. (Dirks) Sands in Portland, Oregon. George soon found a love for baseball and made the All-Stars team and kept a love for the sport ever since. He loved the outdoors, spending time in Alaska and visiting his mother’s homeland of Atka. Also while in Alaska was when his two eldest children were conceived, Sophia and Brandon Sands. From there he moved to Albuquerque with his son, Brandon, to further his endeavors. He then moved to Durango, Colorado with his younger sister. In Durango, he attended PCC and his two younger daughters were conceived, Delilah and Selah, to his wife at the time, Stephanie. During these times, he did frequent Oregon and Alaska to visit his family members as well. He did a variety of things such as construction, auto-body and paint, fire mitigation, as well as many other hands on activities. Also, through his life, facing many trials and tribulations, he found his faith in the Lord and had kept to it strongly until his last day here on Earth. His humble heart led him to help everyone and anyone he could to the best of his abilities. Anyone who knew him, knew that next to God, he held his family very close to his heart, and he was always there for them.
Preceded in death by his father Howard o. Sands, his mother Sophia P. Dirks and his brother Robert William Davis.
