Mary was born in Park City, Utah on March 6, 1917. She lived a good part of her life in Salt Lake City, UT where she graduated from Westminster College and went on to teach school. She lived in various places: Jackson Hole; Aspen; Austin, NV; Monticello, UT; Waldport, OR; and her final move to Durango to be with her son and grandsons.
Mary was a likeable lady who was full of love. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. If everyone cared for life and treated mankind as she did, the World would be a much more peaceful place. Memories of her will be around for a long, long time. Her family would like to thank the staff and all her friends at the Durango La Plata County Senior Center and a special thank you to those that looked after her in the final days.
Cremation has taken place, with her final resting place at a Salt Lake City, UT cemetery. There will be a reception in her honor at Hood Mortuary Chapel in Durango on Friday, March 20, 2015 from 2pm to 4pm. A celebration of her life is being planned in Denver the first part of April, 2015. In lieu of flowers and gifts, please make a donation, in her name, to the Adaptive Sports Association of Durango PO Box 1884, Durango, CO 81302.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, and two sons: Frank and Lee.
She is survived by her son Jim; six grandchildren: Marilee Bartlett, Valerie Shirley, Carolyn Hopkins, Kristine Rottman, Dan Rottman and Andy Rottman; and 11 great grandchildren.
