Obituary for Lorraine Patricia "Lori" Romero

Lorraine Patricia “Lori” (Morfin) Romero, 57, died Monday, March 17, 2014 in Durango, Colorado. A rosary will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday, March 22, at 10:00 a.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m.

Lori was born March 17, 1957 in Fairview, New Mexico, the daughter of Nelson and Viola Morfin. Due to her father’s career in the U.S. Forest Service, their family lived in many towns over Northern New Mexico. She graduated from Coronado High School, Gallina, N.M. in 1976. Lori attended California State University, at Northridge, Calif. While in college she worked for Litton Engineering Labs.

Lori moved back to Taos, N.M., and worked for Overland Sheepskin Company. She met Freddy Romero while in Taos, they were married in Durango on May 26, 1984. Lori worked for Dr. Ben Crue, Mammography Associates, Directory Plus, Advanced Eye Care, Southern Ute Indian Tribe, and currently assisting our community at San Juan Basin Health Department.

She loved cooking and serving, but most of all her family and her granddaughters.

She is survived by her husband Freddy Romero Durango; her mother, Viola Morfin of Durango; her daughters and their families: Camielle Franch (Justin) of Aztec, N.M. and Angela Ramirez (Alex) of Durango; Siblings: Marvin Morfin of Las Cruces, N.M., Nelson "J.R." Morfin of Santa Fe, N.M., Louie Morfin of Colorado Springs, Colo., Jerome Morfin of Albuquerque, N.M., Steve Morfin of Taos, N.M., Kenny Morfin of Espanola, N.M., and Terri Oliger of Durango; four granddaughters, and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Nelson Morfin, Sr., and a brother Joseph Morfin.
