A 1945 graduate of Webster's Bartlett High School, Jerry enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a radioman / gunner on a Grumman TBF Avenger torpedo bomber and was honorably discharged after three years.
Jerry was a molder for 20 years at Whitin Machine Works in Whitinsville, Mass., briefly at Wyman-Gordon in Worcester, Mass., then was a 20-year letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Worcester.
Jerry was proudly sober for nearly 30 years, bolstered by the Webster/Oxford chapters of AA. He was a lifetime Polka dancing aficionado at Polish halls and picnics from Worcester to Chicopee, Mass.
Jerry did side jobs at George Weaver's Thompson (Conn.) Raceway and was an “extra” in the Mirisch Company's 1959 production of “The man in the net” starring Alan Ladd and Carolyn Jones that was partly filmed in Thompson.
Jerry enjoyed clamming, beach trips, playing Jack Benny softball in Oxford and pitch league. Later he spent hours on crossword puzzles, socializing at the Oxford Senior Center and daily trips to Subway.
A funeral mass will celebrate Jerry's life at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at St. Roch's Church in Oxford, followed by a reception in the church hall and a graveside service with military honors at the Worcester County Memorial Park at 217 Richards Ave. in Paxton.
