Obituary for Harriet Jean "Jean" Robinson

Harriet ‘Jean’ Robinson, 82, beloved wife of Harvey J. Robinson died, May 23, 2014 in Pagosa Springs from complications of end stage Parkinson’s Disease. He was her 24/7 caregiver for the last few years of her life. She had a peaceful end to a very long and hard struggle. She never complained though she was still telling us what to do until the very end. Harvey and Jean are the owners of Cool Pines RV Park in Pagosa Springs, CO, which they built and opened in 1998.
She was born February 16, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY to Alice E. Palmer and Asa O. Palmer.
She graduated from Cortland State Teachers College (SUNY-Cortland) in 1952. She taught elementary school in Klamath Falls, OR and then Peekskill, NY before moving to Sarasota, FL where she taught first grade at Phillippi Shores Elementary in the Sarasota County School District for over 25 years.
She married Harvey J. Robinson May 2, 1970. She is survived by her husband of Pagosa
Springs, CO and Nokomis, FL, daughters Alice Robinson (Rev. Robert Pope) of Bayfield, CO and Elizabeth Ellis (Daniel) of Union, KY; sons Patrick Robinson (Bonnie) of Old Fort, NC and Michael Robinson (Sharon) of Denver, CO; grandchildren Andrew, Sophie, and Gabriel. She was preceded in death by her brother, Asa O Palmer, Jr and her parents.
Jean was active, until slowed by Parkinson’s, in RV organizations: GMC Sunshine Statesmen, Family Motor Coach Association, and Beaver Motor Coach Association. She and Harvey full-timed in their motorhome for the last twenty years.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 26, noon, at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church, Pagosa Springs, CO. A reception will follow at Cool Pines RV Park, Pagosa Springs, CO.
Another service is planned for December 1, 2014 at The Church of the Redeemer, Sarasota, FL.
Memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson’s Disease Foundation or the Wounded
Warriors Project.
Our family extends their deepest gratitude to Dan Keuning, Suzie Reno, Muriel Cronkhite, the staff of Pagosa Springs Medical Center, and to Dr. Jill Marjama-Lyons, Albuquerque, NM, Jean’s neurologist.
