Obituary for Landon Kent "Buzz" Roberts

Landon Kent “Buzz” Roberts departed this life surrounded by family & friends in Durango, CO on 12/19/2015. Buzz was born in Archer City, TX on 11/5/1931. His family owned the Royal Theatre in Archer City, made famous in the movie, “The Last Picture Show.” He attended Texas A&M and was a loyal Aggie until his final days. Prior to & during his college days, he met, married & soon started his family with Coy Ward. Buzz and Coy moved from College Station to Wichita Falls, then to Amarillo & Pampa, TX where Buzz worked for Bethlehem Steel for several years. After moving back to Amarillo he began a career in banking, then investment banking as a stock broker until his retirement. He raised three boys & was active in all their sporting endeavors & introduced them to their shared love of hunting & fishing. Buzz was an active member of the Amarillo Kiwanis, played golf regularly at his home at Tascosa Country Club until he moved in 2013 to Durango, CO to be closer to his family. He is survived by three sons; Landon, Randal & Rick; daughter-in-law, Ellen & grandchildren; Caitlin, Ben, Kayce & Kelsey. A private memorial celebration will be held in the spring.
