Obituary for
Jeremiah Z. Rivas
Longtime Durango resident Jeremiah Zachariah Rivas died Tuesday, May 8, 2012, in Ignacio, Colo. He was 24.
Jeremy was born on July 7, 1987, and he grew up in Durango. In his earlier years he attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where he served as an altar boy. He worked at the Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Train Depot and The Bar D. His family remembers him as a quiet man with a good heart.
He is survived by his grandparents/guardians Miguel and Mary S. Garcia of Durango, brothers Raymond Ollier and Skylar Bowers, both of Durango, sister, Kailee Bowers of Durango, mother and stepfather, Angel and Anthony Bowers, of Durango, grandparents Rocky and Elaine Beltran of Durango, son Elijah Miguel of Texas, a nephew, a niece, and numerous aunts, uncles, and family members.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at Hood Mortuary Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be at Greenmount Cemetery.
