Obituary for
Roberta H. Randa
Roberta H. Randa died at her daughter’s home in Durango, Colo., March 31, 2011, after a long battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.
Roberta was born May 27, 1938, in Painesville, Ohio. She graduated from Fairport Harding High School, Fairport Harbor, Ohio, in 1957 and married, Norman H. Randa, in October the same year. During her marriage, she was proud to be a full-time stay-at-home mother of four children.
As a single mother in 1970, Roberta wore many hats to provide a loving home for her family. Roberta worked for Fluid Controls in Mentor, Ohio, originally in production, and furthered her education to accomplish a degree in Industrial Engineering. After moving to Dallas, Texas, she switched gears to become an apartment manager. Her next career guided her to Kansas City, Mo., to work as a conference planner for Fitch & Associates, until she happily retired to become a full-time grandmother and great-grandmother.
Roberta was a long time member of the Angel Collector’s Club of America, where she presided as President of her chapter for many years. Roberta also loved reading, gardening, crafts and traveling. Roberta traveled to many cities around the world, but the most satisfying trips were her visits to see her family and friends.
“She was a lifelong believer in angels.” said her daughter Robin Cook, “And now she has become one of God’s greatest angels herself. Her family, friends, and fellow angel collectors will miss her beautiful smile desperately.”
Roberta is preceded in death by her father, Vernon B. Alto, in 1975, and her mother, Helen A. (Szoka) Alto, in 1991. She is survived by her children Roberta L. (Melvin) Fair of Plano, Texas; Robin M. (Steve) Cook of Durango, Colo.; Robert N. (Sheryl) Randa of Orange Park, Fla.; and Michael J. (Bonnie) Randa of Strongsville, Ohio; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her brother Robert Alto of Massillon, Ohio; and cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and angel collectors.
Roberta’s wishes were to be cremated and buried alongside her parents in Madison Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roberta's name to your local church.
