Shirley Qualls, of Ignacio, after a short battle with lung cancer, passed peacefully in her home, surrounded by loved ones, on October 12, 2018. She was five days short of her 80th birthday.
Though born in Texas, Shirley adored her adopted state. She considered herself a true Coloradan, having spent the latter forty-six years of her life here. An unapologetic homebody, she enjoyed the simple things. Nothing pleased her more than observing deer out the window of her home in Oxford, enjoying a drive over Million Dollar Highway to view the Autumn colors, or simply gathering together with family, to which she was most devoted. We will miss her radiant, warm smile, and gentle, loving spirit.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-five years, Wendell Qualls, Sr., and husband of nine years, Richard Tipotsch. Shirley leaves behind her five children, fifteen grandchildren, and twenty-five great-grandchildren.
In lieu of funeral services, a celebration of life gathering is tentatively being scheduled for the Spring of 2019.
