Carl Purtz III

Beloved father, husband, brother, Carl “Fritz” Purtz, passed in peace on January 13, 2022 in a beautiful room at Mercy Hospice House with his daughter present and listening to his favorite songs.

Fritz was preceded in death by his beloved wife Deborah and fondly remembered by his son Devon, daughter Diana, & son-in-law Brett.

Fritz grew up in Ohio and had a passion for tennis and mathematics. He was a land surveyor for many years throughout Ohio and in West Palm Beach, Florida. He enjoyed swimming with his children and teaching them to play sports and card games, especially poker. Fritz was a bit of a jokester and known for his witty retorts and quick laugh. He also loved dogs especially his good friend, Sid.

Fritz later relocated to Durango, CO to be close to his children. He loved the bright, sunny days and did not miss the gray Midwestern winters. Upon moving, Fritz adopted a carefree, honey badger lifestyle. He continued to enjoy playing the card game Euchre with his family but his favorite activity was watching his big screen TV, drinking ice water, and eating pizza in his mountain view apartment three doors down from his daughter. Fritz was well loved and will be greatly missed.
