Frederick Freeman Middleton Publicover, Jr. of Silverton, Colorado passed away on November 15, 2017. His leaving was peaceful and painless. He leaves behind his wife of 71 years, Elizabeth (Betty) J. Publicover.
He was born in 1925 in Cambridge Mass. A Veteran of World War II, he entered the Marine Corps in 1942 as a 17 yr old recruit. He served with the 4th Marine Division in the Pacific Campaign and was a radio operator in the Battle of Iwo Jima.
After the war he worked for the Woolworth Company for 10 years before moving to Delaware to work for the Sears and Roebuck Company.
His hobbies included his lifelong love of electronics. He was also a ham radio operator for many years under the call sign K3KIB.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, his daughter Sharon Lantz, his son-in-law Jay Lantz and two grandchildren Bruce Conrad of Silverton, CO and Katharine Lantz of Philadelphia, PA. He is also survived by his sisters Pauline White, Barbara Bailey and Edna Publicover and his brother Robert Publicover.
A military memorial service will be held at Hood Mortuary in Durango, Colorado on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 1:00pm.
