Charles Potter

Charles Irvin Potter passed away Monday, November 9, 2015 at his home in Dallas, Texas. He was born at Mercy Hospital in Durango Colorado, on June 6, 1936 to Martha Eugenia (Conroy) and Marvin Duel Potter. He was raised first in Towoac and later Ignacio, Colorado where he played for the town baseball team and graduated from Ignacio High School.
He then followed in his father’s footsteps and built roads across Colorado and New Mexico while studying at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. After graduating in 1960 with a BBA in Accounting, he immediately entered active duty with the US Army. He deployed to Vietnam assigned to MAAG Headquarters, Plans Office, located in Saigon. For his service, he received the Army Commendation Medal.
Upon leaving the Army, he moved to Dallas beginning his accounting career with Kenneth White. He worked for several accounting firms in the area and ultimately retired from Blue Cross of Texas.
In his spare time, he enjoyed the company of family and friends particularly his nearby niece Judy Bundy and her husband Walter Bundy of Kaufman, Texas. He also enjoyed dancing with his friends in the Swingin’ Saints Square Dance Club, World War II history and collecting golden age radio shows.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Donald Marvin Potter. His loving spirit is carried forward by his wife and the love of his life for 54 years Lorena Bramlett Potter, his daughter Pamela Lorena Potter, his sister Margaret Jean McClanahan, and brother Stanley Bernard Potter.
He will be interred at the Ignacio Cemetery on Saturday, November 21 at 2 PM. Please send condolences to 15033 Snowy Pine Point, Colorado Springs CO 80908 OR at www.hoodmortuary.com.
