Jennie Lee Phillips (Sipe)
JENNIE LEE PHILLIPS- Born March 28, 1931, Passed May 6, 2017.Homemaker, longtime Durango resident. Survived by husband of 50 years, Thomas M. Phillips; sons, Steve (Mary), David (Lori), & Richard (Susan) Larsen; daughters Linda (Tom) Mitchell, Shirley (Dennis) Maugherman, and Ruth Larsen. She leaves a legacy of 19 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by brothers James & Martin Sipe, sisters Carrie Hollingshead and Helen Galbraith. She is preceded in death by her parents Charles L. & Viola (Palmer) Sipe and brothers Charles D. & Raymond Sipe.
Jennie was born in Blanding, UT. She lived in Cortez, Dolores and Durango, Colorado. Jennie was a devoted member of the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-Day Saints, serving in many leadership & teaching capacities. She spent the majority of her life serving her husband, her family, her widowed father, and uplifting the homebound seniors and others in need. She had an extraordinary gift of loving all animals who loved her in return. Her dog “Buddy” passed away shortly before her. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her passions were her family, reading, journal writing, gardening, hiking, and fishing. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends & loved ones.
A family graveside service will be held in Blanding, Utah on May 13, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Blanding Cemetery.
