Obituary for John Richard Petrovich Jr.

John Richard Petrovich, Jr., 67, died Tuesday, July 08, 2014 at home in Durango, Colorado. Private family services have been held.
John was born October 26, 1946 in Methuen, Massachusetts, the son of John and Gladys Petrovich, Sr. He grew up in Lawrence, Mass., and graduated from Lawrence High School. He attended programmers school in the Boston area. John called Colorado home for himself and his three children. John was a pioneer in the computer programming field for many major companies such as United and Continental Airlines and other firms.
He moved to New Mexico 1994, and met Maria “Angie” Viarrial while attending barber college and living in the Pojoaque Pueblo. The couple moved to Durango in 1996.
John loved Colorado and the activities all enjoy in Durango like bird watching and nature walks. He enjoyed reading and absorbing knowledge. A spiritual man, he focused on spirituality, meditation, natural and herbal treatments and mother earth life and beauty. Most of all, John enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and had the happiest last 24 years spent with his true soul mate, Angie.
He is survived by his wife, Maria “Angie” Petrovich, of Durango, children: Robin Sheeley of Evans, Colo., Erik Petrovich, Sr., of England, and Andy Petrovich of Bayfield, Colo., Grandchildren: Naomi, Calvin, Steele, Erik Jr., Ethan John, Eli, Andy Jr., and Amy Lynn, a sister: Susan Hamilton of Quakertown, Penn., nieces: Kimberly and Jade, and nephews B.J. and Casey.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Benjamin James Hamilton.
