Mr. Peters was born May 20, 1927, in Ignacio, Colo., the son of John and Ethel Peters. Robert grew up in Durango, attended Durango Schools and graduated from Durango High School in 1945. Early in Robert’s work life, he delivered telegraphs on his bicycle around Durango. Robert applied for a position at Turner Investment Corporation. By the owners and managers own words, once they discovered him they never let him go. Throughout the formation and development of new business ventures, Robert was always intrinsically involved in the businesses growth. Known for his great diligence, he also worked for Bank of Durango, Bank of the Southwest, and United Banks of Colorado.

He was also very helpful and dedicated in the First United Methodist Church in Durango. He used his financial savvy and time to assist and help grow the local congregation.

Robert enjoyed maintaining his home and associating with his neighbors. He spent many hours each day taking care of his Boston Terriers.

He is survived by his half-brother, Verdon Peters, of Pensacola, Fla., and numerous friends, professional acquaintances and his adoring full time staff and caregivers. He also is survived by his companion, Charley – his pet dog.
