Obituary for Mary Helen Perez
Mary Helen Perez, 46, died Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Penrose-St. Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado. A Funeral Service will be Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Peter - St. Rosa Catholic Church in Arboles. Father Douglas Hunt of St. Ignatius Catholic Church will be officiating. Burial will occur at Rosa Cemetery in Arboles. A rosary will be held at St. Peter/St. Rosa at Monday from 6:00 p.m.
Mrs. Perez was born July 15, 1965 in Durango, Colorado the daughter of Joseph and Rose Sanchez. Mary attended schools in Colorado Springs and then later moved to Ignacio and graduated from Ignacio High School in 1983. She attended beauty school in Colorado Springs and graduated in 1984. In the late 1980's, she moved to Denver and obtained her CNA certification and it was also there she met her future husband, Ernie Perez. They were married in Pagosa Springs on October 31, 2009.
Mary enjoyed horseback riding, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. She had a fondness for butterflies, flowers and elephants. She liked to cook and was always playfully teasing family and friends.
She is survived by her father Joseph Sanchez of Arboles, her mother Rose Sanchez of Prescott Valley, AZ, Ernie Perez (husband) of Arboles, CO, Ashely Maez (daughter) of Ignacio, CO, David Sanchez (son) of Denver, CO, 3 grandchildren, Louis Sanchez (brother) of Denver, CO, Joseph Sanchez, Jr. (brother) of Pagosa Springs, CO and Helen Sanchez (grandmother) of Grand Junction, CO.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather Isaac Sanchez and her grandmother Mary Gurule Martinez.
