Obituary for
John R. Pennington
Hesperus resident John Ronald Pennington, 43, died Tuesday, January 1, 2013, in Durango.
John was born February 18, 1969, in Houston, Texas, to Guy S. and Barbara J. Pennington, Jr. The family moved to Oklahoma when John was four years old. He graduated from Bartlesville High School in Bartlesville, Okla. He attended Oklahoma State University and later received an Airframe and Powerplant License through Spartan School of Aeronautics and a B.A. in business from the University of Phoenix. John and Lisa were married May 15, 1993, in Louisiana. He most recently worked for Joy Global in Farmington, N.M., as Technical Services Manager.
John was a musician and active in his church, playing bass guitar, teaching youth Sunday School, and volunteering for ministry. He was on the Board of Directors for Hesperus Baptist Camp. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family and friends.
John is survived by his wife, Lisa Ann Pennington, of Hesperus; sons Jordan, JT and Jason Pennington, all of Hesperus; parents, Guy S. and Barbara J. Pennington, Jr., of Benton, La.; his brother, Michael S. Pennington, of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and nephews and nieces Slater and Spencer Pennington of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Kourey and Kourtlyn Heinen and Kayle Cutrer of Lafayette, La.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013, at First Southern Baptist Church. Clyde Johnson will be officiating.
