Edith B. Patterson (Latch) (Banard)
Edith was born March 20, 1918 in Dallas, Texas to Henry and Ada Norinne Banard. She was an only child. She was a resident of Durango, Colo. from 1952 to 2004 and then lived in Napa, Calif. until passing September 18, 2013. She was 95. She grew up in Dallas and attended Southern Methodist University where she met her husband, Dan Patterson, Senior. After having three children she and Dan moved to Durango in 1952. While living in Durango, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Durango, PEO, Neo Delphian, numerous bridge and reading clubs. She was also an avid football fan, hence marrying a player from SMU and supporting DHS football for years. She was a very caring mother who established good values in her children and taught faith as a priority in life. She always greeted everyone with a smile and respect. She always presented herself with the dignity and class of a fine southern lady. She was very sensitive to the needs of others before herself. And could she play bridge! Five years after the loss of her husband Dan Senior, she married Bill Latch of Durango, who had lost his wife Emily. After Bill's passing, she moved to Napa, Calif., under the care of her daughter Jerry Peterson. She passed peacefully in the night with family present.Edith was preceded in death by her husbands, Dan Patterson, Sr. in 1977 and then Bill Latch in 2002, daughter Sandra Marshal in 1983 and granddaughter, Lindsey Patterson in 2006. She is survived by her daughter, Jerry Peterson of Napa, Calif., son Dan Patterson of Durango, grandchildren; Joshua Peterson of San Francisco, Calif., Kirsten Murray of Napa, Calif., Dirk Patterson of Gold Beach, Ore., Scott Patterson of Portland, Ore., Kristy Fladseth of Santa Rosa, Calif., Rick Goodman also of Santa Rosa, Calif., and five great-grandchildren. Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Durango at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 27, 2013. Pastor Jeff Huber will officiate.
