Linda Parmiter

August 8, 1949 — December 15, 2015

Linda Parmiter, 66, of Bayfield, Colorado, passed away December 15, 2015, at 10:49pm after a long struggle with cancer. Linda Susan Bradley was born in Santa Monica, California on August 8, 1949, to George Russell Bradley and Barbara Knight Atkinson. She attended Camarillo High School graduating in 1967 and attended Northern Arizona University where she majored in physical education.
After working as a legal secretary in the Public Defender’s Office in California, Linda moved to Durango, Colorado in 1976 where she met her future husband, Lon Parmiter. Together, they owned and operated Lon’s Automotive. They later moved to Bayfield, where Linda opened her own yarn shop, Knit One Pearl Street. Linda held weekly potluck dinners at her shop, welcoming knitters and spinners, new and old, to share her passion for this craft, some lively conversation, and a good meal. No one was a stranger for long with Linda.
She loved playing sports and participated in softball and volleyball leagues in Durango. Linda medaled in volleyball several times at the Huntsmen Senior Games in St. George, Utah. Her family was the center of Linda’s life and after the birth of her fifth grandchild, she said, “If I knew grandchildren were this much fun, I would have had them first!”
Linda is survived by her husband, Lon Parmiter, and her children Katherine Parmiter of Bayfield, Colorado; Sean Parmiter and his partner, Kendra Sample, of Bayfield, Colorado; her grandchildren Brian Monahan of Grand Junction, Colorado; Michael Monahan of Grand Junction, Colorado; Evelyn Chamblee of Bayfield, Colorado; Victoria Parmiter of Bayfield, Colorado; Riley Mallett-Parmiter of Bayfield, Colorado; Keseandra Parmiter of Bayfield, Colorado; and her sister, Mary Arpaio, of New York.
A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date. Condolences can be sent C/O Lon Parmiter 36111 HWY 160, Bayfield, CO 81122.
