Obituary for
John E. Parker
John Edward Parker, 50, died Wednesday, May 30, 2012, in Durango, Colo.
A memorial service will be Monday, June 4, 2012, at 12:00 P.M. at The River Church. Pastor Dana Holman of New Hope Church will be officiating. Cremation will occur at Hood Mortuary Crematory in Durango.
Mr. Parker was born May 17, 1962, in Pueblo, Colo., the son of James and Gloria Parker. He attended high school in Pueblo, Colo., and then attended university studies in California. He obtained his degree in psychology and after graduating, he moved to Montana where he was trained as a plumber by his brother. He then moved to the Durango area. He began working for United Parcel Service and remained there for 19 years. He was a much loved member of The New Hope Church family. John enjoyed fishing, camping and the outdoors of Colorado. He was a great cook and loved grilling, his family recalled fondly, but his greatest pleasure and treasures were his wife and children.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Parker of Durango, his children Nathan and Tessa Parker, and his mother, Gloria Parker of Aurora, Colo. He was preceded in death by his father, James Parker. He is also survived by his brothers, Bob Parker of Montana, James Parker of Florida, his sisters, Terrie Miller of Bayfield, Colo., Julie Hoeschen of Nebraska, Mary Hibbing of Texas, Helen Parker of Aurora, Colo., and numerous other family members.
